On December 17 at 1AM, Officer Mike Gregory was on patrol and observed an SUV that had been travelling south, crossing over into the northbound lanes. He effected a traffic stop at FER and Capemay as Officers Kirk Zeta and Dan McChesney arrived to back him up. The driver, 43 of Newark, smelled of alcoholic beverages and was unable to complete any roadside tests. He was arrested, transported to headquarters and submitted to the taking of breath samples which revealed he was more than twice the legal limit. He was charged with DUI and received several motor vehicle summonses.
