On September 29 at 1:20AM, Officer Pat Triano observed a vehicle driving carelessly near the center of town and attempted to make a motor vehicle stop. Once the vehicle stopped on the Route 280 ramp, Officer Triano interviewed the driver and smelled burnt marijuana. He had the driver exit the vehicle and explained that the vehicle was subject to a search. Officer Marc Silva and Elizabeth DeLacruz arrived to assist and directed the female passenger to exit as well. Suspected marijuana was located in the vehicle and the driver, a Bayonne male, 27 was placed under arrest. The passenger was given possession of the vehicle and released from the scene. The driver was additionally found to have active warrants from four other communities. He was charged with possession, received a motor vehicle summons and sent to the Hudson County Jail.
